Consideration
Consideration is what each party gives or promises in exchange for the other's promise in a contract.
Consideration is the exchange at the heart of most contracts. One party promises to do something, such as deliver work, and the other gives or promises something in return, usually money. It is commonly described as one of the basic building blocks of an ordinary contract in common law countries.
Consideration does not have to be money, and it does not have to be equal in value. A promise to provide a service, to refrain from doing something, or to deliver goods can all count. Contracts often state the consideration plainly, for example "in return for the Fees".
Where there is nothing given in return, such as a one-sided promise, parties commonly use a deed instead of an ordinary agreement.
Example
A photographer agrees to shoot a product range, and the brand's promise to pay the agreed fee is the consideration for that promise.
